Thorley Header - "Does not fit with hydraulic clutch"

Hey guys, I just ordered up a DT 555Y header for my '90 pickup, 22re 5-speed. After ordering, I noticed that Thorley's site says "Does not fit 5-speed models w/ hydraulic clutch."

What's the scoop on this? If it's true, I still have time to cancel and order up an LCE. I do have a hydraulic clutch, though I can't imagine how that makes a difference.

I searched, but all I was able to find was an old thread on Marlin's boards which didn't seem to have a definitive answer.

Anybody know what the story is?

Well, did a bit more searching and it looks like a catalog error. So unless someone pipes up with a definite "no, it won't work" then I'll go ahead and get the sucker and see if it works.

I haven't heard anything of the sort.
And it doesn't make much sense that it wouldn't work with a hydraulic clutch seeing as that the clutch has nothing to do with the header
But maybe that's just my backwards way of thinking.

I doubt the header will come close to the slave cyl. as they are on opposing sides of the block.kev

Yeah, didn't make much sense to me either...especially considering that the header is only for 5-speed models, and I rather suspect that most (if not all) of those are hydraulic clutch. Wouldn't think Thorley would actually design one that only fits a minority of models.

Funny that they haven't fixed the catalog error on the site yet though. But then again, it never ceases to amaze me how slow websites get updated. Except for prices of course...those seem to increase just fine.

When I was looking for a header, I called Gerone at TRDparts and asked him, he confirmed the catalog error and said they have no trouble fitting.

Thanks, that's for sure what I was looking to hear.

Blue - I'll definitely do some pics, unless I can't find the camera or else I forget.

My muffler (POS, and far too quiet) is leaky too, so that'll be the next project post-header...maybe toss a flowmaster on there or something. Gotta see if I can get a friend to help with the welding. I already am running 2.25 tubing from the cat back, so I'll probably try to keep that.

I threw on a flowmaster 50 SUV on with my header and hi flow cat. Sounds good, not overly loud. You still know it's there, but it doesn't make you cringe thinking about getting on the freeway.

You can always call Summit their customer service is worth the extra little bit in cost. They are much better than dealing with DT directly.

Indeed.

Btw my sliders sound eerily similar to a Cammed, hyper pistoned, new head with oversize valves motor that's sitting on a stand in my garage. Weird.
