Here's a company that makes OEM looking third row seats, if money is no object. I'm surprised they don't advertise here. They advertise in Parent's magazine.

I wouldn't put a kid back there who tends toward motion sickness!

My plan was to put it facing rear. Actually already thought of the Jeep seat. Need to measure my brother's.

Runner has progressive rate springs in the rear now.

Also, on the pictures above, how close is that back row seat to the original rear seat? Did you have to do any extra welding and drilling?
I had a old for taurass station wagon that had rear facing seats in the way back. used to get pulled over all the time with a bunch of buddies in the car. cops thought I was just hauling a couple people back there...but it had seats and belts...lol

Anyone thought of using a rear 2 seat bench out of the Jeep wrangler? I havent yet, but I plan on using a wrangler seat in my 2000 Grand Cherokee. while I know its not a 4runner, its still a good source.

Any more news on which seats work and how to mount? The previous pictures are obviously not working any more.

Thanks!

fold and tumble that fits!

So I did some digging and came up with this post from Addicted Offroad. It looks like the best solution if you don't mind the $250+ .

So, I need a 3rd row seat pretty soon in the 4runner. I figured that I would look into Jeep seats. So, I ended up ordering a Jeep YJ rear seat from bestop. Its a fold and tumble seat that includes the brackets for install it. Drill six holes, and bolt it in. Works like a champ.

Installed:

FWIW, I got the seat from JCwhitney with a 20% off coupon off the internet and Free Shipping. $248 shipped to my shop.

If you went with the bestop seat, what would you use as seatbelts?
