Tempeture Gauge Problems

I have a 86 toy pickup 22re.
My temperature Gauge is not working properly. When the truck is started the gauge automaticly reads at the half way mark. I unpluged the wire going to the sending unit and its still reading the same. Cold or Warm... it's at half way. Have any of you guys ran into this problem? Thank you .

I just replaced my temp guage because it was doing the same as yours. Found an instrument cluster on CL and swapped the oil and temp unit for mine. When pulling the oil/water unit out just be gentle and it will come apart. Hope this helps.
