Exclamation Temp and fuel sender help!

OK I need some serious help here. I searched a bit and didnt find anything. Here are my problems: My truck wasnt heating up enough so I put a new TOYOTA thermostat in it. Now the truck's Temp gauge will randmomly sky rocket and say its overheating and then just go back to operating temp. It is the turbo runner with the digital dash. I have flushed the coolant and burped it.

Also my fuel gauge is fudged up. Say I drive with 30 minutes on the highway starting with a half a tank of fuel. The gauge goes down way faster than normal. Like I am not just complaining about gas mileage it is just going down very fast. Any time it is running this happens. Like if it idles for 20 minutes with a half a tank it will say its about a quarter tank. Then I will shut it off and wait about an hour or two and it will say its at a half a tank. It has a new fuel pump from like Autozone but I figured out the old one was good a little after so I may put the Toyota (old) one back in.

Any help would be great I would like to hit up Missouri soon and I cant with these problems!!!!

Won't say this is the problem but you should check grounds... engine, behind the dash, etc.

a number of people with 22 series motors have been able to remedy the temp issue (high then low and repeatedly back again) with the help of 4crawlers' tip found here not sure if that is your problem, but I'm betting it'll take care of mine (which sounds similar) Not sure how it applies to the turbos though...

X2 on the grounds. Find the FSM (factory service manual) on this site and it will show you where the grounds are.

Your thermostat is still probably upside down. It cant open nice and slowly as the water gets to temp, because the water pressure is keeping it shut until it gets so hot that its strong enough to pop open against the pressure.
