Taurus fan blowing backwards

I decided to try a Taurus fan conversion. I have tried twice before with nothing but failures both the Taurus and the Mark VIII.
This time it started heating up and when I went to check the fan I noticed the air was flowing out the front of the grill and no flow in the engine compartment. So maybe this is why they all failed to cool in the past and I just never noticed it before.
First my question is, are the Taurus and the Mark VIII fans pushers or pullers? Most threads I read kind of indicated the fan is installed on the engine compartment side of the radiator making them a puller, but then again I have never seen one on a pic. I don't see where it would mount on the front of the evaporator and radiator.
As far as running backward, I don't think you can reverse the motors without them burning up.
Any Ideas why the fans would be pushing air through the radiator and not pulling it?
Also the controller is a custom two speed controller from a speed shop and I have found it doesn't shut off the low speed when the High speed comes on. Maybe this has damaged the motor making it run in reverse?
Let me know if anyone has any experience with this.

I don't know anything (in detail) about Taurus fans, but they are certainly DC motors. Which means the direction of rotation is controlled simply by polarity. While it is possible to have a fan with a preferred direction of rotation, reversing the polarity will turn any fan from a pusher to puller.

Are you sure it is wired correctly?

Polarity.

I am going to try to reverse polarity today. I don't know how that will effect the two speed controller but in theory it should work.

From what I've read it won't matter.
the low speed is more than enough to cool your rig.

Today I tried the motor in reverse and it ran ok, so then I tried reversing the leads on the controller and it seemed to work ok. I just cringe when I connect positive to negative and negative to positive. Just not something I do very often, but for now it works.
