tail light problems

well i kept blowing tail light fues i took my tail light assmebly apart trying to find the probelm today, the problem was comming from the pasnger side rear light there is a little black box that is half melted so i took it apart and it there where some peices on a circut bord that where compleetly burned out and some that wernt even conected anymore looked like a couple dioeds and a couple resistors maby not sure. anywhaz what is this little black box and where can i get another

probably a taillight converter for towing trailers which have combined brake/turn signal lights.

that was kinda my thought to, question is there one box on each side or just one, where can i get another? also i removed all the loose outta the box and wraped it with e-tape and now im not blowing fuses but i only have 1 tail light blinkers on both sides and no break lights.

most autoparts stores should have it in their trailer section.

depending on the type, it could wire: tap into the left and right signals, running lights and one of the brake lights and ground, then output left/brake, right/brake, running light and a ground, IIRC. The running light wiring may not be part of what you have.

can this box affect the tail lights of the vehical itself or do i still have other issues becouse i still have no break lights and no passenger side tail light
