Today I was pulling some stuff out of the back of my 4runner. When I shut the tail gate and tried turning the key to roll my rear window up I heard a BEEP...BEEP...BEEP. I did not know what it was for about 5 minutes, when I finally discovered it is a tail gate not shut all the way sensor...

Am I the only one who did not know the runners had these?

Mine use to, but with my 91 gate it doesn't anymore.

my 95 defintaly doesnt have that, just a red light up in the front gague cluster that says "back door"

If I hold my tailgate open and turn the key in the close dirrection it does that. It sounds like a honda door open alarm.

i dont think my 88 does taht but my bros 93 does. If you dont know what we are talking about, lower your tailgate then click the window up button inside the cab.

My 93 did that, because one of the latch sensors went bad. If it's closed and you are getting that, check out those latch sensors. You can get access to them by removing the carpet and the regulator front plate.
