swapped 3vz wont start. plz help.
Hey there, I just completed swapping in my new 3vze in to my 92 4runner standard. It came from a 90 2wd auto pickup.
Everything is hooked up but it wont start. it turns over but just wont start.
and will have a small back fire every so often.
Its for sure getting gas and spark.
I took the plenium intake off and notice gas pored out of it as well when i loosened the bolts on the EGR.
why is this happening? any ideas?

the details.
Hey, sorry about the lack of details was extreamly stressed and tryin to find answers quick.
Details: i have 92 4runner 3vz the engine was f***ed. so i found a new used 3vz from South Island Auto with 175,800kms. this 3vz came from a 90 2wd auto pickup.
I got it home and replaced all the seals, gaskets (exept head gasket because compression was 165 all the way across), timing belt, water pump, oil pump, remachined flywheele and put on a factory aisin clutch. I convertered the oil cooler and filter from 2wd to 4wd and coverted it from auto to standard. i then intalled all of the 92 parts needed. exaples plenum intake, water by pass, and a few other minor things.
Droper her in and hooked everything up. I fallowed the layout schematic drawing to hook all vacume lines and ext.....
The first time i tryed to start it i smelt gas under the plenum intake. so i pulled it off and to my surprise 2 of the injector orings were not sealing properly. also when i unbolted the EGR gas/oil mixture pored out of it as well as when i tiped the plenum intake sidways gas/oil mixture pored out of it. so i replaced all of the orings on all the injectors. re-installed the plenum intake and tryed to fire her up again. again same issue engine cranks but never starts. every so often a small quiet backfire with a puff of smoke.
Im stuped could there be a gas/vacume line mixed up causing this has anyone ever encountered this?
please help!!!!!

I thought so i installed it and then did what the FSM said by turning the crank shaft 2 full rotations to see if the marks re-aline. and im pritty sure they did.
I mean theres a posibility some how they didnt line up and i screwed it up
I thought the timming belt could be the issue.... maybe ill have to pull it appart...........bahhhhhh.

Got the timming cover off to check. Crankshaft pulley is set to top dead center and both camshaft sprockets line up perfectly with markers.
I noticed that the block was wet on the drivers side under the head though....
Im starting to think that i was lied to and my new used engine has a busted head gasket............
Whats wierd is i didnt see any rad fluid in the oil when i first bought it...

If your getting gas then your injector are too. What it sound like it fluiding it self out when trying to crank it over. So that probly why you have fuel in place it not suppose to be. I would check and make sure you have your crank sensor plug in and check other sensor too.

I agree with you. i pulled the intake again and put in another set of nice injectors i had and nothing.
I then was talking to my buddy saying how it seems like its flooding it self.
I will go over all fuel line and the 2 sensor sugested.
Thanks.

it almost sounds like u have the dist. 180 out, since it will pop but not start. i had that issue once and it was 180 out, flipped it and then fired right up, did u pull the dist when u did the swap? or did the motor come with one?

ya could be. i pulled the distributor but iv tryed rotating it.
Ill try again.
And also i re checked all my fuel line, vacume lines, grounds, sensors and fuses. everything is in proper place.

u do have the grounds from the heads to sidewall on driver side and from intake manifold to rear fire wall?
also if u look in the fsm it tells u how to install the dist in the right location,

Just to be sure, you have everything hooked up, right? The intake air hoses and all that. Another fellow on the forum fought with his truck for 3 months only to just now find that it was not starting due to a significant air leak between the VAFM and the throttle body.
