So I got an 85 supra afm. Swapped circuit boards. Thing is when messing with it I lost the original tooth setting on the dial. I've got everything wired up. It starts/runs, but it doesnt seem like the plate is opening up fully with WOT. Kinda sputters out, and doesnt run well. Only other thing I did was remove the little black ball lookin canister to the left of the TB (emissions crap is what I was told that is) Ive tried both spectrums of the dial settings and in between. No luck. I know its probably a small demographic but if you've swapped boards in these and can help plz chime in!

Well for starters...you removed your charcoal canister. There is no reason to remove this. It collects the gas vapors from the tank and stores them in the canister. Periodically the ECU sucks the vapors back into the air stream to be burnt. You're just throwing away fuel.
Pull your plugs. What color are they? Sounds to me like you are running too lean.

As far as the supra afm. I damaged the board during the swap. I had a spare and was extra careful, now it works great. Still need to dial it in for good afr.

No need for filters. Just hook it up the way Toyota intended. One line goes to the gas tank, one line goes to the throttle body. Done.
And congrats on getting the Supra AFM working. It is on my to do list.
