Sunroof Won't close

Need to manually close sun/moon roof. Have the window slid forward, but back won't come up and seal. I think the motor may be shot. Don't care if it never works again. Just need to get it closed properly.

Locate the drive motor and apply power directly, if the sunroof doesn't move you've got a dead motor or mechanism, if it moves the wrong way reverse the jumper wires. If the motor doesn't atleast groan pull it off and actuate the mechanism with a tool like a screw driver..

I am not that familiar with the Avalon, but some cars have a manual override to close the sunroof with a crank handle, ratchet and socket or some other tool which is usually under some round plastic cap in the headliner.

Do you have the Owner's Manual by chance? There may be something about a manual override in there.

How about we try to give useful information instead of going back and forth........

Anyway, if you still cannot figure out how to get the sunroof closed, try the Avalon sub-forum on Toyota Nation: https://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...ion-1995-1999/

Or go to a local trusted mechanic if you are not mechanically / electrically inclined.
