Sunroof drive cables are RIDICULOUSLY Expensive!

One of my drive cables broke recently... I actually just replaced them about a year ago with some used ones from AW1090 for $40. Money well spent, they lasted about as long as I thought they would. Anyway... I've decided that this time around I'd buy them brand new... Guess what? It's approx. $150 PER side! RIDICULOUS! I really don't understand how Toyota can charge so dang much for a cable that is to me very cheaply produced. If you guys have ever changed out the lines you know that the connecting pieces are primarily plastic. I checked the price on sunroof cables about 6 months after I bought the truck and I was quoted $80. When I asked the lady today I also asked "So, in the last year and a half the price has gone up upwards of $40?" She replies, "OH yeah". Anyway, this concludes my rant, as I really have no other means of purchasing them but from A Toyota parts dept. *sigh*

Of how to replace your drive cables? If you guys want a write-up, when I drop the $300 to purchase the dang things, I'll be sure to take pictures... it's actually really easy...

I contacted toyotapartsales.com to see if they could get them for me cheaper. I'll get some pics when I buy them... 300 bucks just seems like a lot for freakin' cables..?

There is a small writeup on Cardomain, but I'll make a better one with more pictures and what not. It is soooo easy. I probably did mine in about 45 minutes last time. $900 is stupid for such an easy job... I'm ordering my drive cables from Toyotapartsales.com and am saving about $100.

Price comparison:

Bill Wright Toyota (Bakersfield, CA ):
$148.59 per side
x 2
$297.18 (local so no shipping)

Total: $297.18

Toyota of Dallas (Dallas, TX... obviously):
$87.63 per side.
x 2
$175.26 (plus shipping; $26.29)

Total: $201.55

I still think $87.63 is a little pricey, but I can more easily live with this price than I could dropping $100 more on the same thing locally. Once again, toyotapartsales.com gets my highest recommendation! Very nice people, very good prices (in comparison with local stealership), and of course it's all OEM.
