Straight plenum/throttle bore swap
This is my third set up I've done to a 88 22re
Smoother start up and engine response.I started basically cleaning the plenum
Inside and out with easy off oven cleaner and aluminum acid cleaner.Swapped out the early TPS and cam linkage to the later type Throttle bore.Eliminated the power robbing unit below the Throttle bore and clamped the 2 open water hoses to the throttle bore.I looked up 4crawlers TPS setting and used a ohmmeter to set it within operating specs.

So you ditched the idle control valve? (that power robbing bit on the bottom of the TB) LOL.
Not worth it for a truck that sees cold weather, but for you in HI, it's bearable.

The later model 22RE upper intake has better air flow than the early model upper intake with the angled front, there is a small gain to be had by swapping over to the later style upper intake. The gains you see from this mod may not be a lot, but on a 22RE every little bit helps

a proper tune up would've saved a lot of money when compared to mechanical modifications and such unnecessities.
anyhow, thats fine well and dandy adding about 4 hp and barely as much torque.
you got paid well and the client had problems you managed to fix by exclusion.
edit to add- I hope you're not in California. I need a reputable shop to work on my trucks, when I can't fix issues myself.
