stock stereo

I hooked up a stock radio/CD/tape stereo with internal amp in my 88 4runner, it fits fine and sounds good, but only on cd, when its on the radio the sound is low and doesn't get really loud like on cd, I know this must mean the amp is not coming on when the radio is on. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it, Thanks!

I am assuming you can barely hear the radio when volume is cranked...If thats the case seems to me the deck is hooped, or maybe your antenna or some other connection is not good. Maybe get a satellite radio and see how that broadcasts over the radio....But if your radio is a little quieter then your cd after you have just ejected it, that is normal.

yeah that must be it, I run my sirius sat through it and it sounds fine, but it just a little lower than the cd is right after playing it, think I might sell it and hook up my aftermarket, thanks!

can't say for sure with the stock stereo, but the pioneer I put in has separate eq settings for stereo, cd and aux and the stereo was more muted compared to the others until I set the eq. maybe the stock stereo has a similar 'feature'.
