stock jack?

so i just got this 2nd gen 4runner and i can't find where the stock jack is supposed to be located. is there some compartment that i'm not familiar with or did i just not get one? i've checked under all the seats and in the compartments in the back area.

-if i didn't get one: should i invest in a hi lift or just get another small one for street use?

Unless you've got sliders then you really don't need a Hi-Lift. Just get a cheap bottle jack, you can get some Kobalt ones at Lowe's, obviously the more they extend the better (I have a 12ton one, only because it extends the longest).

I also have a Hi-Lift because soon I'll be getting sliders but until then...lets hope I don't get a flat on the front two!

Yep, under the rear seat. The bar you need to lower the spare is under there too. I carry the stock jack, a bottle jack, and a highlift, and have had to use all three in some recovery situations.

Even if you have the tools, if it hasn't been lowered regularly it probably ain't coming down.

well i was just wondering because i was wheeling at a local off-road park and my friend jeep blew a tire, granted he had a full size spare but there was no jack. bad situation. i've got plenty hydrolic jacks at home but all my other vehicles seem to attract nails off the road when i drive them! probably in the runner too...it just hasn't happened yet.

btw, i'm building sliders right now so that's kind of why i was wondering.

thanks all!

def figured out how to take the rear spare off cause it's nothing like you'd expect. basically stick the long hook into the odd hole in your rear bumper and jiggle it around until you feel it catch the hook inside. start spinning it and you'll see the spare drop down slowly. i found that out the hard way in a blizzard...

If it weren't for
a) my rear bumper being a lil tweaked, meaning the hole don't go where it should

and

b) the bastard being rusted beyond hope

maybe i'd have a usable spare. It's not gonna be fun when I get a flat... At least I keep the sucker aired up correctly...

well the good news is that the asian guy who owned the truck before me was very anal and he kept everything nice and clean. the good news is that my spare comes down real easy
