I am usually pretty good at searching for things, however this one alludes me for some reason. I have been looking for stock height leaf springs for an 87 pickup. Everything I find is either an AAL, or 2" and above. Local spring shop told me between $300 and $500 for new springs or they can re arch for about $300. Not doing that as they just us a press (cold setting process I believe) and add in another leaf. They do not re-arch the "correct way" by heating and cooling the springs.

Before anyone says it, no I don't want to do the ZUK mod to fix my saggy butt. Nor do I want to add blocks, AAL's, or longer shackles. Which won't fix the fact that the leaves are sitting on the overloads anyway. See photo below. And yes I know there is no bump stops (gonna fix that when I put in new leafs). Not sure what the original owner did with them.

Besides I don't plan on running anything bigger than a 31-32" tire. 31's on there now. If I find a cheap set of used 33's maybe. If I need the extra clearance I will just raise my flatbed a little and crank the torsions up an inch. Possibly go with a longer shackle.

This is exactly what I want to do. I dont want to lift and I dont want the ZUK springs, I just want my 2-3 inches back! Sorry no help I havent been able to find anything either.

 

the easiest/cheapest way would probably just be to leave your main leaf on, and then go to the junk yard and get some leaves to make a pack out of to build up to stock height. You'll probably end up with a better pack that way anyhow.

35's , sure you can, but it will be hard to maintain speed when you go up any hills. I run 33's with stock gearing and I am finally going to regear in the rear and wait till I find a front 4.88 IFS diff to drop in later.

 

I've seen them there, been meaning to do some more research to see if they're worth a hill of beans. LINK Seems like a helluva deal compared to a $300 re-arch.

OOOOOK death , so i am not crazy.......

 

I was able to find stock height rear springs for my saggy 89 4runner manufactured by Dallas spring. You can't buy from them direct but your local spring guy can. $140 per spring sounded good to me for how much time I spent trying to solve this problem. Mine are on order and Ill be running them in a week if you want to wait to see how I like them. Good luck!!

 

I bought mine from JCWhitney and can tell you that they are too stiff. I would buy them again though and mix and match till I got a good pack. (knowing what I know now-hindsight).

 

what about increasing shackle length? Although stockers on my 4Runner are pretty long already..

 

I'd say get some 2" OME springs and give the t-bars a few cranks (or buy my BJ spacers ).

i did AAL to get back up to stock-ish.
i'm about 1" over in the rear, but i fixed that in the front with a tbar crank..
AAL's work, mine were off a used truck so they're a bit more forgiving.

 

x2 on this. i woudl go to a junkyard, get a set of used rear springs, prob cost you 50-100 bucks, and make your own spring pack. or maybe buy some 2inch lift springs, and remove a leaf? jsut spit balling here
