stereo install but not all speakers work ???

I just put in a new... well not brand new, a hand me down from a buddy... CD player in my 93 4runner. Went to wal mart and got the wiring kit, everything hooked up, i took out the old stock amp... But the only rear speakers that work are the tweeters. ???? any ideas... did i miss a wire.

you sure the cd player is good? x2 on the amp stock amps usually power everything but tweeters.. you must have lost something there.. the wires that go into the amp recieve a different signal than the speaker wires soyou cant just wire 'em up to speakers and expect it to work.
also.. why did you remove the amp? it seems that you would want it in there for a more balanced system if nothing else

unless the amp is fried and doesnt work, which ive never heard of happening, put it back in... your system should work fine...

For vehicles with a factory amp, they make an amp bypass plug so that all the factory speakers work off the head unit, and or an aftermarket EQ

From the reaserch that i did on the fourm i found out that the two plugs that you use for the wire kit unplug before the stock amp, plus everything matched up.

had the same problem when best buy put the head unit in my old 4runner. after a day of wondering it took it apart redid every thing...

do you have a power antenna that is broken? if so, did you not bother to connect the power lead to for it? some how connecting that fixed mine

never went back to best buy after that
