Starts up and misses pretty bad for a few minutes

I recently just started driving my 4runner again which was sitting for almost a year. It ran great when i parked it, now when i start it cold and even after it sits for a few minutes it will miss pretty bad then clear up after seconds to a couple minutes. Then i get this strong smell of gas, I had a problem with it when i first got it where it wouldn't want to start when cold. I got a new cold start injector and that cleared it up. Any suggestions? no gas leaks or anything like that.

Have tuned it up at all: air filter, plugs, cap, rotor, PVC, clean the afm?

If not, would do all of that first to take them out of the equation.

What did you do to treat the fuel that sat in the tank for a year? Stabil? Recommend filling the tank with premium of the highest octane you can find, and run a bottle of Stabil in it. Also, grab a bottle of SeaFoam and run 1/2 can through the vacuum hose into the intake plenum.

Yeah I have tuned it up forgot to add that. It barely had enough fuel in it to get to the gas station, so it got fresh gas right away not premium though. I just filled it up with regular today Ill definitely try the Stabil, never even heard of that stuff lol. Today it started up fine cold and only did its missing every other start up or so. Probably just needs to be driven and some Stabil. Thanks for all the help guys!

stabile just keeps gas from going bad when sitting for a long time. It won't stop if from missing now that it is old. try some seafoam or MMO in gas and oil. tends to clean these engines up after sitting for a while. you should probably change the oil if you haven't.

I've alternated between Seafoam and Marvel Mystery Oil and have seen significant improvements in my idle. Highly recommend both products
