Starting Woes

hey all, so after takin my runner through a bit of mud and getting stuck , i cant get it to start. its a 22re, i took the starter in and got it tested and it passed. When i turn the key i just hear a single click, i turn the key again and i hear that same click. Any ideas? While we were stuck the truck was running fine, then it started idling terrible, and stuttering as well. So i then shut it off and proceeded to get it unstuck, after getting to where i though i could drive it out i went to start it and nothing, so i tapped the starter and she fired, but wouldnt run half decent, so i then shut it back off and got a ride home, the next day when i went and pulled it out i turned the key and heard that same click, so i tapped the starter, got it running and she ran like a champ, for about 5 minutes that is, then it started idling bad again so i shut it off, thats when i decided to tow it home, while being towed i tried bump starting it and it wouldnt run. any ideas?

definetly sounds like an electrical issue. how deep in the mud were you? maybe you've got some corroded connections to alternator, battery, starter,or engine ground to the frame and the muddy water finished the job completely.

well my 35" super swampers were buried, so relatively deep. ill have to go through and wash the engine bay thoroughly and look for bad connections.
