starter problem

To start off, i just got finished with me 22RE rebuild and just got everything in and hooked up. i went to start her up for the first time and i heard the usual "click" when you go to start it up. but not turning over. i charged the battery and even tried a different one. the 4Runner sat in my yard for about 6 months while i gathered up some money to rebuild it. the starter worked then. when i went to move it from my yard to my driveway a few weeks ago it wouldnt turn over either. any suggestions?!!!!!!! im extremely anxious to get her running

I know this seems obvious, but battery connections should be shiny bright and very tight, otherwise there might not be enough current conduction to start, but enough for lights and radio to operate, thus appearing to be properly connected.

Also check chassis and engine grounds for good, tight connection.

These two items are the top reasons I find for the symptoms that you describe.

Check the grounds/ contacts. If still a problem, pull the starter, inspect contacts. 91Toyota just did a writeup on this and there are lots online. Its about a 3 hour job all said and done the first time.
