Starter Issue

Ok, I have searched and read through a couple dozen post regarding starters but havenít come across a similar issue I am having with mine. Everyonce in a while, maybe every 3 or 4 days, I will need to turn my key 2-3 (rarely 4 times) to start my truck. It is an 89 5spd V6 with 190K miles and I am the second owner. Other times it will start up on the first try. When I turn the key and it doesnít start I donít hear a clicking, my assumption is the starter is going out. Will replacing the contacts, like I have read in a bunch of threads cure this? Or do I have a different problem? I do have some corrosion on the battery terminals and was told I should replace the battery, can this affect start up (even if it isnít clicking)? I am about to leave to have the starter, alternator, and battery checked at autozone or kragen. Any thoughts on my situation?

Went to Autozone and they tested the battery and altenator. The Batter wasn't looking to good. I tried to start the truck it woundn't probably because the test drained the whatever power was left in the battery. They checked the Altenator and it was only producing 1 to 2 amps worth of juice. They have a refurbished one for $161 with a lifetime warranty, another place has it for $139 with a two year, going to call the dealer just to see what their cost is. It looks fairly easy to remove and replace, anything else I can do instead of replacing it or is it one of those parts you typically can't repair on your own? Also any other places I can call to get the part you guys would suggest?

Usually you just need to replace the alternator brushes:

And on the starter problem, do a quick voltage test:
