I am currently working on the running gear for my 1990 lsx swap while the truck is still daily drivable. Still has the stock 3.0 with the 5 speed manual. That being said I am keeping it 2wd. Here come the questions...

From my understanding ALL Toyota trucks/prerunners up to 96 all had a lug centric based mounting for the wheels. I know the stock hub size on my 1990 2wd is supposed to be 67.1mm. With that said I am looking to swap a newer explorer 8.8" rear end into the truck. Easiest way and cheapest way to get LSD 4.10/3.73 gears with a bullet proof set up for what I intend and it bolts right up from the write ups I have read.

So what is the difference in hub size for the rims I choose? Is it still a lug centric mount or is it now hub centric?

Also I was looking at mounting gen 2 lightning rims if it is hub centric and doing a stud upgrade on the front if they will fit. I always loved the look of them on my gen 1 lightning and think it would be a great upgrade for this truck.

 

For what it's worth, my stock alloy wheels are hub-centric. This Toyota Service News http://cf.linnbenton.edu/eit/auto/eh...loy-Wheels.pdf (2004) says "All later model [post 1989] Toyota wheels and hubs are designed for hub-centric fitments."

 

you can use hub centric rings to center the wheel, if it's a hub centric wheel being installed on a lug centric axle... you can get 'em custom made, worst case.

the early six-lug vehicles have a 106mm hub size, 108mm bore on the wheel, not sure what it is for the toyota five-lug vehicles.
