I searched for the AFM adjustments on Downey OR site, but I couldn't find them. Could you post up a link?

I can't say I've noticed any more pinging with mine, but my intake duct is still stock so its really not letting any more air in. Might try richening one click at a time until it stops pining under throttle. If I understand correctly, the O2 sensor has the final say when the engine is in open loop (ie: not at wide open throttle), so the AFM adjustment shouldn't make a difference in regular driving as long as "regular driving" doesn't involve too much WOT.

Here's the Downey link, it's pretty basic: http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Engine...Injection.html.

This one has pictures: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/minutemods/afm/

"Regular driving" is a relative term! I like the sound of my truck!! The reason I notice the ping was while I was checking for a lag difference at idle. Again, I was curious if others had such a report. I have not notice any pinging during "normal" accelleration. I have not "loaded" the engine either to see if there is a pinging.

I wish there was some way to get some type of feedback when adjusting the AFM, aside from seat-of-the-pants.

What do you mean? Like a dyno? I could put in an air/fuel ratio meter and then I could see what the deal is. I already have too many gauges!!! Or one of these: http://www.toyotacatalog.net/m1webge...C-B9A8537C9B49.

well its my favorite type of diagnostic technique to do its trial and error. oh and get rid of that ignition system cran, MSD or what ever else people have come up with. they won t help at all. make sure when adjust your AFM that you let it run or drive it for a bit to make sure that the ECU took the adjustment

Trial and error indeed! I pulled the Crane ignition out last night and probably wont' be putting it back in. So, we'll see what that does.

Well, I have never had any problems with the Crane system and it worked just fine. I liked it for the options I could use with it, like rev limiter and antitheft. Unfortunetly I just don't notice a difference, but we will see now that I took it out.
