My son has a 92 4runner with a 3.0. He says that it sounds like there is air sucking through either the exhaust manifold or the valve covers and he smells raw gas and exhaust. Also has blue smoke from exhaust. Any ideas?

 

Blue smoke? Check your oil level, you are probably getting oil in the combustion chamber. Pull your plugs as well, take a peak and see if you find any buildup.

 

I could be wrong, but I thought I had read somewhere where there is a valve or something toward the right hand side back of the engine that could leak gas or something... was supposed to be common on the early 3.0L. Maybe see if you can search on that.
