slight overheating

my 89 toyota pickup short bed delux 22re has just developed slight over heating problem its rising over were it used to sit at 1/4 staff now its siting half way over heat and normal so i looked under the raiator cap and it was full but it looked like it was red weird i thought i work at the auto parts store and the closest thing that i ever saw to that was dexcool by gm and its orange so the i thought that the sending unit was going bad but i just dont know and the thermostat was replaced by toyota about 300 miles ago and there was no problems after

it says that its hot but there nothing coming out of the over flow i dont know what some one help me :complain:

its fine. what engine is it?

my 3.0 has run at the halfway mark since ive had it and ive NEVER had a problem.

the coolant is toyota red coolant!

According to the guy at the local radiator shop, Toyota red antifreeze is the best and it is compatible with green. He said that Dexcool is the worst and it is not compatible with anything else. You should test the temperature of the coolant at operating temperature to see if it is really overheating or just the guage. I just put a new Toyota thermostat in my truck and my guage is normally at 1/4.
