Not to go too far into it but I need help figuring out how to create a "step" in a set of sliders that won't cause too much trouble when wheeling and will give my lady a convenient way to enter the rig. At 5' tall the ol' Yota is a tad higher than she likes for getting into and out of.

and you'll see what Tofer did - looks like it would work for trail use since the chain would flex out of the way.

a cleaner option would be to do some sort of removable/bolt-on step application using tube clamps like these or something similar:

only thing is you'd have to take them off when you wheel.

One fellow did this with a set of my sliders, drilled a couple of holes to fit an off-the-shelf step:



Removed it for off-road use with 2 bolts.

Other option I have used in my truck is a flat folding stool with a cord tied around it and the seat rail. Unfold the stool, use it to enter the truck, then reach down and pull it up by the attached cord, fold flat and stash under the front mat:

 

that chain link setup is so sick on Tofer's truck.

 

Chain like Tofer's set-up is the only way to go.


Or teach your Ol' Lady to jump rope. this will increase her vertical and she can jump in.

 

I can't remember where I saw it...

But, what I saw one time was a step bar (6-8" wide) welded to an extension tube that had 2 small piece of tube that were just barely bigger than the OD of the slider tubes. The steps would slip on over the slider tubes in 2 seconds and would slip off that much quicker.

Chain is another good option, as mentioned.
