Cooling fan explosion

Hey yotatech. Yesterday my cooling fan decided to explode into about 5000 pieces taking out a few things along the way. Including my radiator, battery, fan shroud and part of the intake box.

with that being said i was wondering if there is a way to just do away with that destroyed part of the intake box. I dont want to buy the entire thing, its kind of expensive. I already have a new fan on the way. and im going to see about getting the radiator repaired because the slice on that isnt that big.

The fan exploded with such force for that pieces were stuck in the under side of the hood chipping the paint on the top. Which sucks because my paint job is about a year old.

That's pretty brutal man, I've heard that is a somewhat common problem on older 3 series beamers. Makes me want to hurry along with my cooling system. Sorry to see that happen to you.

I had the bearing seize up inside the fan while me and the wife were driving around looking for houses, Toyota wanted like $700 for the setup, I tried to press the shaft out of the aluminum housing and cracked it so I just switched to an electric fan and chopped out that whole section. Have you tried checking junkyards for the intake box?

yeah i can get the intake part from a junkyard for 30 bucks so ill just go that way. ive been wanting to do the ISR mod but im selling it soon so i just want it back together is quick as possible. i got the fan for 45. i still need the shroud and to fix the radiator. Its not as expensive as i thought it was going to be. Scared the hell out of me when it blew up though. I thought for a fact i threw a rod or something.
