Practicing on the bench with welding a nut to the end of a bolt. Play with the voltage to get it right and not stick the electrode. You could look on Craig's List to find a mobile welder to do it. I used a mobile mechanic to drop a full gas tank to install a new fuel pump and price was reasonable.
