Slave Cylinder issues

Slave Cylinder issues
Longtime lurker... first time posting.
I got a 1994 Toyota extended cab 2WD 22RE. The clutch pressure went out and the shifter is stuck. So I checked the clucth resovior, empty!
I followed the line down to the slave cylinder and found the culprit. There was a bracket just dangling on the steel line that comes off the slave. The steel line had sprung a leak where the bracket had just been hanging and chewing at it.
I'm stumped about where this bracket came from. I tried to place it everywhere along the line and around the slave. Is there a brakcet somewhere above where the rubber line meets the sleel line?
I ordered the new steel line and a new slave.. I'm just worried about putting it back in without this bracket.
Thanks for any help.

well, there's 2 12mm bolts that hold the slave to the bellhousing so it can push back on the clutch fork...
But if you're talking about the bracket that holds the line, I never put those back on.
I can never get those where they don't feel in a bind, and IIRC they use the same stud the starter uses.
I just don't use them. I just bend them out of the way and bolt the slave on...

Here is a pic of the bracket.
Also, the two bolts don't fully tighten back up ito the tranny bell housing. They just get sorta snug and keep turning. I wonder if I need to tap the housing. Does the slave have to be completley stationary? Is a little play ok I wonder?

That bracket looks like the ones that just hold the line and they can be hard to get back on, I've not had any issues not using them. As far as the slave cylinder goes, that needs to be tight, any play will just add to problems shifting and will eventually lead to damage to either the line or the slave cylinder, I would tap the line and see about using a slightly larger bolt or a heli coil.

I'm going to gohead and put it back together without that bracket.
Do you think my slave cylinder is even bad? The fluid all leaked out from the steel line coming off it. I know the cheap ones at autoparts stores are $15 but i'm reading that those are bull˟˟˟˟ and just use a Toyota genuine slave between $50-$80.
I guess it's take my chances with the old one or take my chances with the new cheap one.

Cru,
Try Napa, ok? My buddy works there and told me that they're the Aisin Casting and innards(made by Altrom), just like their Dizzy's.... They just make so many that they can sell them a lil cheaper. Their better ones are made by Altrom, which from everything I've read about their timing chains, etc., ARE Toyota Parts with another name on there. Just like Rock sells genuine OEM Water pumps with the Aisin Ground off... This is the store near me, so put your zip in the napaonline.com site and your vehicle...and you'll find it. Here you go.......
http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...+50070+2070026
ORRRR, you can get one from toyotapartsdirect.com for around 30% off dealer price...just have to pay shipping, which is cheap for something so small. 46$ plus shipping, where as the Altrom at Napa is 25$ plus shipping.....
