That would be a milled horn 750DP, have wanted one since I was a kid. Know it may be a bit big but it is going into a fun only car so should be great!!! Will start thinking about that again once the Toyota is done. Boy am I ready for it to be done.... Love the Vette!!!!

Got a few more things painted this weekend.
My valve cover was the big project of the weekend. Started with a wire wheel to get the first layer off. Then I soaked it in brake parts cleaner and scrubbed with a scott blue towel to get it to look like this:

The Self Etching Primer I got suggested wet or dry sanding with 400 grit sandpaper so I did both.

I started with wet sand, wiped it down with a dry towel, wiped it down with mineral spirits, then wiped again with another dry towel. Then I dry sanded and wiped it all down again. To keep paint out of the holes i just stuffed them with blue towel pieces.
Here it is ready to paint:

I set up a little "paint booth" at the end of my garage to keep over spray down:

I used Rustoleum's Self Etching Primer (Thanks flyingbrass for the recommendation)

The can said after correct prep paint 2 or 3 layers waiting 2 minutes between coats. I put three layers on and then waited over an hour and added one more.
Here she is primed and the "TOYOTA" Taped off so i can do a two tone paint job:

I put three coats of Rustoleum's Flat Black, which is the same paint as the block

To paint the letters I sprayed Rustoleums Metallic Silver into an old cottage cheese container

Then I just used a paint brush and painted three coats of silver

Also primed and painted some brackets.

Quick update here. Got my parts in last week. They look great! Great service and quality parts from Ted at engnbldr. I've spent the last week cleaning parts. Soaking all my greasy dirty parts in diesel and scrubbing them with a nylon parts brush seems to be the best method. I'm looking for an ECU harness so if anyone has one that is uncut shoot me a PM. Going to send my injectors off to WitchHunter soon.
List of things I need:
Clutch
Flywheel
Battery
EGR Valve (I think)
Alternator
I'm sure there's more but those are the major things.
Also want to get all new vacuum lines.
Need recommendations for other parts that are usually replaced during a rebuild.

I may have a good harness from an 86, i'll have to check. And also a flywheel but it would need resurfacing. As far as other parts to replace you may wanna get a new slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder while you're at it.

I also need/want new motor mounts. The stock ones are cracked at the top and bottom so I don't want to put those in and then have to replace them when I get dual cases. Toyota wants around $130 a piece for OEM ones and I don't have 3 or 400 bucks to spend on motor mounts. I've heard the RockStomper's are pretty harsh as far as ride quality goes, but my runner won't be a DD. What do y'all think?

Haha thanks. Black is just clean and simple. Looks BA with the aluminum head too. I mocked it up with the head, timing cover, and black valve cover. It looks pretty sick! I'll post a pic tommorrow.

I seriously thought about red after seeing bleederdude's but i went with black so grease and grime wouldn't show up so easily. I used Rustoleum's Flat Black. I probably spent $10 on primer and paint together. I don't think I used a whole can of either.

From: Cincinnati, Ohio - Amelia is the exact place. There is no one else on this site from where I am. Seems like everyone is from Cali or Washington. I guess I need to move.
I just checked the quench. Pistons 1 and 4 are at deck height. 2 and 3 each had a spot that was .05mm under the deck. That's .00197". I don't think it is worth it to take the block back to have that taken off.
That post up by engnbldr is awesome. It answered my much needed question of exhaust size. (The pipe from my muffler to the tip rusted off at the muffler.)
My machinist also put other bigger accounts ahead of mine which didn't make me too happy.
I personally don't mind an SBC. A Ford though... that's a different story.
For my solvent i think i'm going to use break parts cleaner. The stuff is potent and won't leave any residue.
Where can i pick up self-etching primer?
