Shock/Spring from 2nd Gen

I have a 93 4Runner 4wd with the 3.0l that needs attention to rear springs since they are really sagging so the rear of the truck has a good lean. My friend suggested looking into upgrading from the second gen OEM and maybe purchase the 3rd or 4th gen springs and shocks for front & Rear, possibly giving it a bit a lift. I wanted to get an idea from you folks online who know what their talking about, if I should just replace the front/rear shocks and rear springs with whats @ AdvanceAuto or online RockAuto or consider purchasing the new years OEM parts, will they fit and give a lift?

Bought the truck for $1100 in May 2019 and slowly been putting some money into her to keep her a daily driver, she's the Under Budget truck. The motor which just rolled over 215,000miles and drives 70-75mph on the interstate well, saving to rebuild/swap out in the future in case the motor goes. Currently I go to work M-F though like to take my 2 young boys off-roading and on beach and find fishing spots. Not wanting to put much money in upgrades, yet, until we know what the motor/transmission is going to do.

Thanks!

take a look at your front suspension and take a look at a 3/4/5 gen front suspension. I think youll change your mind about trying to interchange them. as for the rear, id suggest simply getting some new coils and adjusting the stock front to match your new height as long as your not going too tall.

As @keycw says, there is zero commonality between a 2nd gen front suspension and later generations, so that's not an option. Your rear end driver's sag is severe, to the point that I would suspect a broken coil. It also looks like you have more than stock lift in the front, so someone may have cranked up the torsion bars in the front in a misguided attempt to lift it a couple of inches. I've attached some manual pages which will show you how to measure the ride height and compare it to the stock specs.

I appreciate the information. The previous owner did not have the truck long though they did haul a landscaping trailer or small boat often before his employee lost his position and they released it to me for such a low deal.

Checkout the Old Man Emu medium load springs. You're going to need shocks too because of that massive sag probably running them bottomed out. Makes sense they hauled stuff I've really never seen one sagging that bad, but new springs/shocks in the rear and see how it sits. You might need to change the torsion bar tension to level the truck but let the rear settle after replacing parts before you mess with the t-bars.

you can put fj80 landcruiser coils in the rear for a few inches of lift, this will require longer brake line, a panhard drop, and longer shocks, but overall it's a pretty cheap setup for the amount of lift you get
