Shifter bending? and 33's on stock frame...
My first question is, do I need to to get my shifter bent if I lift my truck with a 3" body lift? Or is there some replacement somewhere? (Putting my 3" BL on tomorrow.)
Second question is I have 33x12.50x15 on my stock 90 runner, there is a tiny bit of rubbing on a really tight turn using all of the slack in the steering wheel, but other than that they fit great! I thought I read somewhere that it was not possible to do this. Like I said I am putting a BL on tomorrow so it wont rub anymore anyways, I was just wondering why people were saying that you could not do it.

You'd be surprised at all the things people around here say you can't do when you can...
It's called the Internet. Everyone's an expert.
Btw, the shifters you can either have them cut and extended or just buy the extensions from 4crawler.
And if you think the tire thing is bad, wait until these guys start telling you body lifts suck...

cool, I will check on that 4crawler extension. I will probably just bend the shifter for now, until I can get that extension in, there is a guy here that can extend it himself but I think I would like that 4crawler one better. And yeah everyone seems to have their own opinion on here and sticks to it, but I have had nothing but positive results from my posts so far so I like the feedback thanks and nice truck! Saw some pictures a coupla days ago.

I didn't need to bend mine when I added the 3" Body Lift. I did have to do some trimming to the metal boot holder, though. I also removed the upper shift boots, and inverted the lower. Shifts fine.
Now, I wonder if it will STILL shift into all the gears when my I get my Marlin Poly Shifter Bushing and Socket installed?
Nice looking truck by the way. I have the same paint/graphics.

yeah I did think about trimming around the back of the holder, but I considered bending it because of it being 3" lower than normal, Im lazy and I dont want to have to reach that far
also I am going to clock myself with the BL and try to submit it to guiness world book of records. lol not really but I got about a day to do it cause my tires are rubbing and I have to take a trailer to baffin bay(hour and 45mins away) on friday and I dont know what would happen with the extra weight.

lol I lean back pretty far when I drive, not low-rider far, but I am about 6' and like to spread out I will try it without cutting first and see what I need to do, as long as I can get into every gear, and make it to 4L then I should be alright, if not I will try the cut and if still not okay then I will try the bend

I don't know about the pickups but on my 4runner I am having issues shifting into 2,4, and reverse with only a 1.5 in body lift. I cut the center of what I call the figure 8 out but I am still sticking on the inner boot. I was thinking about bending the shifter but Steve at sonoran steel sent me a link for a short throw shifter for the manual transmission on a tacoma. It was made by B&M and was sold by summit racing. I don't know if they sell one for your truck but it might be an option for you.

3 inch body here. Didn't bend or modify the shifters at all. just got rid of the middle boot, trimmed the "figure 8" and everything shift's fine.
I did have to unlock the shifter though. It got stuck, because when i was doing the lift, i left it in first.
So tip of the day: Leave the shifter in Neutral and the T case in 2Hi.

well I could not get into 1st or second after the body lift, I had to trim the sheet metal on the left side. and the rubber boot would not work inverted or cut. So right now i have a leather boot cover on it only and it is torn to pieces so I can see the highway underneath me Once I get a welder friend of mine to weld in the extensions and put the rubber boots back on I have to just deal with road noise and the windows down so I dont pass out from fumes.
