shaving bump stops

hey, i have ifs :cry: and i wanna shave down my front and rear bump stops but what bad things could happen if i do? how much could i shave off? thanks

nubie question but what exactly is a "bump stop"?

they are on the a arms and up front and in the leavs and frame round back. the stop the wheels from to much travle if i am corect. i dont no about shaving them. but i have ran it thro my head i would say like 3/4" is the max maby less. im sure some one will chime in with a good respons.

You can cut them down as far as you want but there are somethings to consider.

One, you want something in between the a-arm and the bumpstop, metial to metal is bad. If you are going to reduce the amount of the soft rubber, I would just buy some polyurethane shortie replacements. You can find them at any off road shop, they are very common.

I have the low pro stops on my truck (compression only because I run ball joint spacers) and am considering reinstalling the stock bumpstops. Those thicker stock ones are part of the suspension and they have the effect of increasing the spring rate when the suspension reaches the end of the line. That is good and helps to prevent damage.

perfect!! i ordered a rear 2" shackle lift today to get me by until i do the sas. the spacers will go perfect with that. thanks
