Have replaced wires, plugs, cap and rotor. New TPS.O2 sensor. Idle is ok. Cannot set timing correctly, runs worse. Anything past partial throttle doesn't want to run unless you back off or floor it. 2 days in local shop, they don't have a clue. 89 toyota dlx 4x4. 22 re

Why was it in the shop in the first place? Did the problem start out of the blue?

Set to spec I assume. Went into shop because of this issue. Started about a month ago and got progressively worse.

Went into shop for this issue. This has been a project truck for me and my dad. We have slowly replaced its over time. Really came out of nowhere. We have tried everything we knew, not that we know a lot. So we took to a friends shop

The shop didn't tell us if there where any codes. They checked some things. Replaced the TPS that I put in and that didn't do anything either. They told us to take it to toyota.

My guess is you have a vacuum leak somewhere. or a faulty afm, or an air idle control valve. it could be a lot of things. check for codes and start from there. Get the truck home, download a fsm (search for one on this site) then start going over the truck. Welcome to the "project" part of owning a project truck... lol
