RIDING With O/D off
I have a 1995 4runner with a 3.0 . My wife took the rig yesterday for a 40 mile ride. I think she had the over drive off for the 4o mile run. Knowing my wife, she didn't go over 60-65 miles per hour. but it was a non stop 40 mile run. The rig feels the same to me today, but I was just wondering if this would do any damange? please inform on this matter. Thanks for your help.

It's not a problem. If the AT oil temp light didn't come on, then it's fine. In fact, it's recommended to stay out of O/D when hauling or traveling lots of hills. So, that should give you some indication.
Furthermore, the A/T is a four spd transmission when in O/D, but functions only as 3spd when not. So, you'll rev a bit higher out of O/D between gears, but as long she wasn't hitting real high rpm's in 3rd everything about it is normal.

i have drove a ford ranger (i know its not a toyota, but it wasnt mine though) most of the way across Georgia not in overdrive and it didnt do anything

It'll be fine. As thook said you'll rev the engine a bit higher at highway speeds since the transmission will not go into overdrive. As long as the transmission and / or engine didn't overheat there's no problem.

As everyone else has said, its fine. Earlier this year I had my air temp sensor(I'm not sure if thats the proper name) go out; and I couldn't shift into OD because my computer thought that my engine was running at about -100C. I put close to three hundred highway miles on it with it only being able to get to third gear before I got a chance to get a part and fix it.
