I could not get to this I didn't want to put a hole in it if it didn't come off now I know it does.

Yes, the rounded dust cover has to come off, then there's another 12mm bolt threaded into the end of the CV.

Take the splined plate off, then there's a circlip around the CV axle.

1sttoyotaparts.com, buy their reman CV axle assemblies; will only take you a few minutes to do each side and they're only $120, hard to beat for OEM quality.

I just did mine on my taco, very easy and didn't have to mess with the axle assemblies themselves, just ripped out the old for cores and threw the new ones in, good to go.

highly recommend doing both sides also, if one is bad, you can bet that the other is not far behind!

you're looking at the new ones, they're almost $400. find the remanufactured ones, much cheaper.

looks like they went up to $150 but still a good deal. not sure what year you got there.

I was a bit confused on the washers and retainer clip until I saw the new CV's, they had all of the new hardware on them already, nothing to transfer over thankfully. Literally just yoinked out the old, in with the new, took longer to jack up the vehicle and get the steering knuckle/brakes outta the way. Use a pry bar to yoink 'em out, rubber mallet will tap 'em back in place and button her back up.
