Appreciate the info and recommendation. Been a stick man all my life except for the 94 Accord that the wife talked me in to buying for her. Sure did run smooth when traffic was a crawl.

You should get a load of the rental I got,... RAM Full size... drives like a Clydesdale and I can't see over the hood either.

Hey xxxtreme22r-
Where could I find a door (w/ vent) and fender?
I told the body shop to look at James Dean for the stripes,...he was appreciative. Thanks

I was thinking if I can help find some of this stuff reasonably, it could help the cause in repairing the truck.

check some of the part out threads. You might have to have a door painted though. You can also look in some pick and pull junk yards as well. I don't know what's close to you.

James Dean I know a short while back was OOC for a while, not sure if they are still taking orders.

like I asked earlier... is it possible to get a regular door and convert it over to the window style you have?

I'll ask the shop. The glass and vent glass are all intact. The parts are there and not mangled either. The inside door cover, handle, armrest are all unblemished.

I don't think it's possible to convert a full window door to a vent window door. I believe even the window regulator is different. At least on the 84-88's they are.

Sounds like you might be able to get asway with just a door "skeleton" I don't know if JCWhitney has any, but you might be able to find a new aftermaket and use your old door parts. You'll probably want to change the door panel with your old one anyway to match interior colors.

How was the door jam area on the cab itself?

I think you lucked out with the window being up and not down. If it was down, it most likely would have shattered.

Sorry,... I missed what you were saying and had to re-read. You are saying can the door be totally swapped out with a non-vented window door?
I think it could.
I will say this, those vent windows are sure sweet in the winter time when you got to defog the windshield fast or need cool air across your legs. I used the vent glass ALL the time.

xlaxx I don't believe that's what he was saying. I don't know on that gen but as of right now I have 1 original full window door and 1 vent window door on mine. Don't ask it was an accident. More like stupidity on my part at the junk yard. hahahaha.

LMAO,...You got me cracking up!
That's exactly what was going thru my mind,... one door vented, the other door non-vented. Whatever works!

what cracks me up is the fact not many people actually realize that and hit me on it when looking at photos I put up of it. It's like noone ever really even notices. But I know and I hate it. hahaha. Especially the fact the mirrors are different and I absolutely hate the mirror on the vent window door. Not only is it a tree magnet, it doesn't stay put.

you might not have been able to open the door because it pushed it into the fender area, which I didn't think about that side, I actually meant the rear side jam, but you brought up a good point if that was tweaked it might be nearly impossible to get that back perfect and the door might squeak all the time.

I'm saying if you get a good door shell, I'm almost certain you can swap the guts over from your original to get the same thing... it'll involve swapping the glass runs and all the seals over.... not fun

Check www.car-part.com for the door.

I was able to switch from a full window to a vent window on a door for my 87 runner. Not sure about the newer gen.

Good luck!
