Rear wiper refill?

Looks like the rear wiper refill from Toyota is now obsolete (85221-YZZA2, A350) -- anyone found a replacement option? Ideally a part # for just the refill that'll work.

Doesn't look obsolete: https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota__/...5221YZZA2.html

There is also the ANCO 14C13 - https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...per+blade,8852

Just try to get one and you'll find it's obsolete. It may not say that on all websites, but the parts direct website says that and the local Toyota dealer says that as well.

Crap, I just checked Denso and they now only offer front refills now.

While the whole wiper blade assembly is considerably more expensive than just the refill rubber, they are still available.

It may be worth getting one before the blade assembly itself becomes discontinued as well.

Well, I tried what Denso suggests is a valid blade replacement and it's close, but not the right fit. It's about 5mm too tall.

The part # tried was Denso 160-1214 First Time Fit Wiper Blade, 14", ordered from Amazon. It's the right length and hole pattern, but it's over 5mm too tall so when retracted the rubber blade is pressed against the fiberglass top, rather than being suspended off of it. Still working on another option...

Like I said above the factory wiper blade assembly is still available. https://parts.norwalktoyota.com/oem-...ade-8522022461

It is significantly more expensive than the Denso wiper blade (even with the online discounts), but it does fit.

I'm going to order the factory blade ($28 for #8522022461), but am still trying to find refill rubber material. The challenge is the top side of the blade is a triangular shape, and not the now more common flat shape.

Has anyone found that rubber profile in bulk anywhere, or even in long enough segments? I'm not sure what other vehicles might have used it.

We used to take longer blade inserts and cut them down to size all the time. as long as the part that slides into the channel is the same style/shape they'll work fine.

I purchased and installed a new rear blade, #85220-22461. It's very similar to the original blade, but adds a spring under the mount to return the blade to flat when unloaded. If you keep this spring, you'll need longer screws, such as M3.5 x 8 as it makes the mount plate thicker. Or you can easily remove the spring and use the original screws. Photo of spring attached.

Though the original rear wiper refill (A350, 85221-YZZA2) is discontinued, you can buy #85214-24H90 and cut it to length.

Note that this part # will also work for the front windshield wipers for which refills are no longer available. In the front, the wipers are A400, but on the driver's side a longer A450 (obsolete refill: 85221-YZZA9) will fit and clear an extra 25mm of windshield at the top -- good for tall drivers. The available wiper refill is for a Toyota Celica 2.4L MT GT LIFTBACK, 1982.

The return (zeroing) spring:

Original wiper refills (long left front and rear) -- both obsolete:
