Rear ujoint

I’m putting a new u-joint in my 1986 Toyota pickup the rear u-joint that is. I’ve changed several in my day on different types of vehicles and all their u-joints had lock rings on the bearing caps. Well this Toyota does not, is that normal?

The lock rings are inside the ears of the yoke. They snap into a groove on the OD of the caps instead of into a groove on the ID of the yoke ears like you're used to.
