Rear joint replacement

I’m trying to replace the rear ujoint on 1986 Toyota pickup. My problem is that there’s no bearing cap lock-rings. There’s not even grooves for lock-rings. Is that normal? I’ve never seen one like that. Please tell me the proper way to replace them

The rings should be found on the inside of the yokes.
