Rear Tranny Output shaft play

Title says it all..
1987 Toyota pickup, 5 speed, 22R.
Got up under the truck because i noticed oil spray off the pinion flange at the transfer case end..
Wiggled the driveshaft, a little bit of play in the output shaft of the tranny..

Is there a bearing or bushing i can replace, or do i need to find a new tranny..

Tranny or t-case output? On the t-case output, might be the staked nut has loosened allowing play in the flange. Easy to check and tighten up (to 90 ft.lb. or so). Also a seal there that might be causing the oil leak. If tightening does not work, there is an output shaft bearing in there.

I'll check, but i always aim for the worst case scenario, because thats usually what ends up happening with this truck :/

Day saved, staked nut was loose. Replacing seal while i'm in it.

Thanks, 4crawler. I didn't even think of the staked nut

That would be the rear tcase output, not your tranny.

Pack some sand in it.
