Rear inside side panel simple question

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to remove it. The left rear one, I need to get in it to find out why my rear window is so intermitted in coming up. Thanks

Which inside rear panel? What vehicle?

92 4Runner? And are you talking interior quarter panel trim? That big plastic thing that goes around the window?

Or are you talking door panel?

Just tug on it until you hear a pop, it's held in by several reusable expanding retainers. Go up with it, because there's a lip on top (I think). There may be some bolts in the little compartment, I'm not sure. Firm but gentle force.

Its cannot be simply tugged on for removal. There are some steps PRIOR to tugging required.

#1 Remove the upper trim panel in the back that houses the rear courtesy light. Under that, you will find 2 screws.

#2 remove the rear lower trim panel, across the bottom floor of the truck. 5 screws, each with its own cap retains that

#3 Remove the seat belt, upper middle of the panel. 14mm socket here.

#4 Remove the seat belt retainer, forward portion of the trim panel, held in with one screw and covered by a square cap

#5 Remove the drivers rear door sill plate

#6 remove the interior dogleg molding. FYI, its much easier to remove all these parts with the rear seat back removed, but its not necessary.

#7 Loosen the upper "B" pillar trim, this clips into the rear trim

Once all these things are off, you can gently...GENTLY!! pry the panel off, and move it out of the way. The seat belt will still be passing through it at this point so you could A. remove the 14mm bolt holding it to the floor and completely remove the panel from the 4Runner, or B. just move it to the side to gain access to the inside of the quarter.

Hopefully that helps

What he said.

So just remove any screws you can find, and pull. This is what happens if you really take it down.

How do you get it off without opening the rear door? Remember that the window won't go down so the door won't open... Is there a trick to getting the window down when the switches won't work? Thanks

Unplug right at the motor of the rear window mechanism and jump two wires to a drill battery.

Then fix your switch.
