rear bumper research yet again
I have searched and searched. I am wondering what you guys are running for rear bumpers that are not tube style. I am looking for a rear bumper with a rear tire carrier and a hilift mount as well.
I was looking at the kennesaw mountain and a couple others and I want to know what you guys are using and are happy with.
thanks

Very happy with my "Slee style" Irbis bumper/carrier (3rd gen). Very important to get a stout sealed bearing set up for the swing away tire carrier. Armorology will get you squared away if you want one that bad.

Here's a pic of the Kennesaw bumper I have on my truck. I've heard a few bad stories about them, so I don't know how reputable they are, but I didn't have any problems. It was kind of difficult to mount; you'll need a bunch of people holding it in place while someone welds. The paint they put on it didn't hold up very long so I had to repaint it. Also I cut off the permanent shackles that came with it (in picture) and welded on a set of hangers so I could throw on or take off a regular d rings. Overall this bumper was the best option for what I paid.

kennesaw seems to be one of the only fabricators around here north of Atlanta...but my friend had a bumper made by him said he was a total a$$ and bumper wound up costing more and he was out a truck for llike 2wks....I was wondering if I could have something fab'd to the marlin crawler rear bumper....I don't mind a tube bumper just not sure if it would support the weight of a tire, gerry can, and hi-lift.
Anybody got a 411 on that?

I go back and forth on the issue, and for now, I am satisfied with the tire strapped to the rollbar. It doesn't take up as much rear window view and its over the axle(weight). If you need the extra space, get a hitch mounted basket to carry your cooler or gearbox. I deflate the 35 and wedge it under the rollbar and I keep my little Tsunami inflator in the truck.
