I am thinking that flatland4runner has a 4RUNNER and is asking fo a company that makes bumpers that are compatible WITH THE FACTORY REAR SWING OUT TIRE CARRIER.

At least thats how I read it and I am also curious as well, as my factory bumper is also falling away each trip I take.

Most aftermarket bumpers do not work with the factory tire carrier, as they will not allow the swing out carrier....to swing.

my mistake

should have been more clear, I do have the factory swing out carrier which I kind of prefer but aftermarket bumpers are hard to come by that are compatible with it

I am partial to this look and may use it for inspiration in making my own, since I do not htink they make it for a 2nd Gen.

Have thought about this style...and shortning the "wraparound" to allow the tire carrier to swing.

yeah

I'm going with Jay's idea kind of...I got loaded last night while working a friends VW and it hit me. He works at a shop that builds fuel tankers and such so i have access to pipe benders and all kinds of materials so I can realistically build something on the cheap that'll look decent and be tough as hell. The problem we carrier guys have is the lower hinge but if that becomes integrated into the bumper I got full swing and a great bumper to boot a hinge is dead easy to fab and the carrier itself can be trimmed and/or modified. Well pics will be coming as the measuring has already begun...the design is based mostly on a bumper like Jay's
