Rear Anti Lock

i am in the process of regearing my runner from 4.88s to 5.29s and the new third i have is from a 4cyl 85 pickup so it doesnt have the sensor hole on the third like my v6 one... so i unplugged it and now my anti-lock light is on!! if i drive the truck will everything be ok just wont have rear anti-lock or will my truck be trying to break every 5 seconds

Thanks,
Bryce

You'll have standard brakes, but the ABS light will be on all the time, which would bug the crap out of me...

For various reasons, I removed the ABS sensor from my diff... but I left it plugged in. Just tie the wiring out of the way.

No ABS light. Brakes work fine.

All this was before my disc conversion...

I believe the 4CYL diffs are weaker than the V6 versions. Strength, not ABS, might become your real problem.

That's EXACTLY what the rear antilock is for.
To prevent the rears from locking up.
The fronts can lockup.
If the rears lock up it's trouble.
Geeezzzz.

No, if you have rear anti-lock the LSPV is still there.
Rear Anti-Lock and the LSPV and too different things.

Oh...

I always thought the LSPV was sort of a "budget" anti lock
reduce the pressure to the rear drums as the rear is "unloaded" (aka anit lock as the rear "rises up"

ok thanks for the help! rolled it out of the garage for a spin around the block wth no front diff everything works great! but the light... the reason i have a 4cyl rear is because a co-worker/goodfriend put a 305 in his 85 pickup and didnt need the 5.29s anymore so i got an awesome deal! they were less then 2 months old from zuk

No, it's to increase the amount of rear brake bias as you add weight to the rear (haul stuff in the bed of the truck).
The more weight in the rear, the more rear brake bias you need in order to make the rear brakes effective.
Has nothing to do with the weight shifting of the vehicle during braking.

To get rid of the ABS dash light unplug the ABS computer. On mine, it was up in the dash above the glove box.

Correct. Basically "senses" how much weight is in the rear of the vehicle and adjusts brakes accordingly.

New Zealand... seems YT is getting everywhere.

unplugging my ABS computer won't shut off the light. did this actually work for you or is this something you heard somewhere? i even pulled both the main ecu and abs ecu fuses to try and clear the codes

i have a code 33, which means there's an issue w/ the rear speed sensor. i'm going to try putting a resistor in the wiring, but i can't figure out why unplugging the ecu doesn't extinguish the light. looking at the diagrams, the light gets its ground through the computer.

Yeah it worked for mine.

Actually now I have completely removed the ABS computer, however my speed sensor is still plugged in (but its not in the rear diff).
