radio only works when headlights are on
I removed the radio, while troubleshooting the a/c. I put it all back together, after cleaning the plastic dash panels, and the radio makes no sound unless I turn on the headlights. It powers up, but has no volume. It's as if the headlight switch is controlling power to the amp. I removed the amp and radio again, and reassembled, but it stayed the same.
Anyone seen this before? Where is the power antenna relay? Next time I'm into the dash, I'll check the amp connectors and see if the power tracks with the head light switch, and check the grounds.

This may sound goofy, but, check the ground on the cigarette lighter. I had this exact thing happen to me before. You'd be surprised the odd things that happen when it is not grounded properly.
F'real.

either your stereo is hooked up to your lights, or on the same fuse or bus.
to best resolve this issue, would be to separate the red and yellow wires (for aftermarket stereo's) to a dedicated hot wire for your stereo...
the last time i paid someone to install a stereo, they hooked it up to the blinker, and then told me i did it...(they went out of business soon after due to just being incompetent) ...
anyways.
at least everything does work..now you just need to sort out the wires...
good thing too.
b/c if you run too much power through your stereo, you may blow a fuse, and then, no more lights or stereo...
