i noticed last night, while bleeding my front brakes, that the two small nipples on the bottom of my radiator do not have any tubes run to or from them. one has some mud residue caked in the opening, but both are just there with no plug or hose attached to them. i've tried to do searches on them, but i can't seem to find any info on what i am looking for. noticing this is getting me rather paranoid about any ill effects this may cause. what normally gets attached to these?

Those are for the factory automatic transmission cooler. The factory radiator in my '93 p/u didnt have them since it was a manual, but the aftermarket one I had to buy had similar "nipples". There is a tube that runs through the bottom of the radiator to cool the auto tranny fluid. No need to cap those off. I have never heard of the tube cracking on a standard tranny vehicle, only on ones that actually have an auto.

If u don't have the auto, you can use it for a power steering cooler for hydro assist. works great for me.

 

toyota4x4907 is correct, but those also show up on nearly every aftermarket radiator, too.

Yea you got an auto tranny rad right there....
