quiet clicking from CV

is it correct that the CV is going out if it clicks quietly when the truck is raised off the garage floor and the tire is spun? a healthy CV shouldn't make much noise at all, right? found a couple posts that pointed in this direction... wanted to get a final word. thanks

try repacking your wheel bearings. that was the source of my clicking a while back.

full droop like that is at teh very limit of the articulation of the CV... wouldnt surprise me if it made some noise even a new one.

As long as the motion is smooth, I wouldn't worry about it. I might try lubing some of the other components in there first, such as your hubs and wheel bearings, to make sure everything is good and then just drive until it starts getting really loud or something catastrophic happens.
