Quick a/t solenoid question
#21
I'm not sure the soleniods were ok myself, I'm thinking they could click but still be clogged up. But I've never tested one myself or had any problems with one.

oh..and what about throwing some locktite or jb weld in there...they do thread, just wont tighten enough...does not need to be perfect, as long as it hold the fluid..as i said.. i have another trans, and motor, and will eventually be swapping them both...just want a bandaid to get me thru a couple weeks

Problem solved!!
Yup...so sure enough...the cruise control ecu was the culprit...my tranny shifts like brand new now, all the work I have done, and all I had to do was unplug the cc ecu... any one else having the problem with not shifting into o/d only i suggest disconnecting the cruise control ecu, under the driverside kick panel, good place to START.
Thanks everyone for your help,
And Ill let yall know when I do my motor swap.

Hm, mine was having some difficulties going into overdrive towards the end of the motors life. We'll see what happens when it has a new motor.

Thanks for the idea, my trans might still be acting up when the new motor is in and I can't afford the 5 speed swap right at this moment.
I would remove that gasket from the oil pan and glue the whole thing with a quality RTV. A lot of people reccomend the stuff that Toyota makes but I've had good luck with the higher end sealants you find at NAPA etc. Just my experience. If the bolts fit before but don't now after a new gasket, something is going on. Almost anyone I've spoken to that seemed to know Toys really well reccomend the Toyota glue (just can't remember the damn name still lol) Have you tried to thread the bolts in without the pan or gasket on?
