Quick Help!

ok i dont really have time to search, but i just did a valve cover change, and intake manifold change on my 91 p/u v6 4x4. connected everything, and started the motor. it starts normal, but right after it goes "vroom" it dies... it starts up perfect, but dies 1 sec after. but i can hear it still trying to turn, it diesels a lil bit. need quick help. and i check all vacum and all lines 3 times. and tightned the manifold bolts jsut to make sure. thanks!

Are you sure your timing belt didn't skip any teeth while you were changing your intake manifold?

You have your intake component terminology confused. You can't remove your intake manifold without messing with the timing belt. There are no vacuum lines on your intake manifold. You are either talking about your plenum or your throttle body.

Do you have your intake hoses in place? The ones that connect the afm (at the air filter) to the throttle body...

whats afm plug?? all i know is i plugged in all of the vacum, pvc, gas, radiator line/ hose all in. the truck starts up normal, but a sec after it starts it dies, but still tries to stay alive, you can feel the motor still turning. and if i start it and rev it b4 it dies, it stays running, but if i dont rev, it just die out

You'll probably be better off just posting a few detailed pics of your engine bay. If you have something crossed up, someone here will be able to point it out.

ok me and my dad has been working on it. we looked at both trucks, and matched it up. could it be that we put the gasket maker on the intake gasket, so when we start the motor, it got sucked up? we tried starting it up and it starts, but you know when u start the car has a vroom, then when it goes to idle, the truck dies. feels like were almost there, but still missing something... or does the bolts for the valve cover has to b a certain torque? because we dont have a torque ranch, we just made it finger tight. thanks for any input

Valve cover bolts are around 14 foot pounds. I've had crossed up vac lines do exactly like your talkin'. It could be some gasket maker gone haywire, I would never recommend using it on any intake gasket, they make some types of very thin film gasket sealers that might be appropriate. I just use the gasket, nothin' on it, works good for me. You could also have a vacuum leak, or a plugged vac line/port.
