If you feel you're going to encounter a situation that requires a rear diff breather, the others would be logical as well.

The front diff may not be quite as important since it only get's used occasionally whereas the rear diff is the primary way to move the vehicle, but if the breather mod's not done, the gear oil will require more frequent changes. So which is cheaper- gear oil changes everytime you take it underwater or getting the proper fittings and hoses?
Same applies to everything else- if it gets submerged, it'll get water in it, so the fluids need flushed and changed.

How is the front diff on the 3rd gen vented? Same as the on earlier IFS?

Yes, you need to put a breather hose on the front as well, its as easy to do as the rear. The transmission is vented through the shifter I believe, as is the T-case (less sure on that one though). Judging by the pressure in the tank on a hot day, I don't think that is vented.

Why not vent it into the engine bay?

be for warned you will run into clearance issues with the replacement screw and the oil pan...you will have to trim it up..about half to fit right.
also qdude79 your 4runner looks really sick and clean...the removed strips and blacked out grille, and rims seem to really add to do classic look of the 4runner.
